Saffron Housing Trust works with the CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau)
20 Mar 2009 | Saffron Housing Trust is delighted to offer another service to support its tenants. As from April 2009 Saffron will be able to refer tenants who are experiencing debt problems directly to a CAB debt advice worker (Jude van Hattem) who will be working exclusively on Saffron cases. This arrangement will mean that the normal waiting time to speak to an advisor will be much reduced. As we are all aware, in the current economic climate, the services of debt advisors are in great demand and waiting times can be lengthy.
Jude van Hattern has spent the last 5 years helping people who have experienced financial difficulties and she will be based in Saffron's offices at Long Stratton two days a week. Jude van Hattern says; 'I am very happy to be based at Saffron Housing and look forward to offering my help to tenants who are having financial problems'.
Tenants are being asked to initially contact their Area Housing Officer on 01508 532039/44 if they would like advice regarding their debts as there will be a referral system to ensure that those with the most serious debts can be seen first.
Pauline Hough, Assistant Director of Housing Management at Saffron Housing says 'Saffron's aim is to assist tenants by increasing access to debt advice services and we look forward to working with the CAB in achieving this.'
Steve Wiseman, Chief Executive of Norwich and West Norfolk Citizens Advice Bureau says “The Citizens Advice Bureau is a well reputed and trusted organisation for thousands of people who need advice and assistance with problems and concerns in their daily lives. We are pleased to be afforded the opportunity to extend our services by appointment to tenants who most need them to help resolve debt and money management problems.”
