News update

26 Jul 2010

From the first of July, John Whitelock joined the Executive Team as Director of New Business taking on a new role combining the housing development side of Saffron Housing Trust with bringing in new services and opportunities. Some of our customers will know John as he has been with Saffron, initially with the supported housing team, since it started six years ago. He is looking forward to his new role and believes that Saffron is well placed to help develop new services for tenants and the wider community. Saffron is also delighted to welcome new Board members, South Norfolk Councillors Eloise Ellis and John Overton.

The Tenant Services Authority would like to know what you think of the national standards they have drawn up for social housing landlords. The standards are based on what tenants and landlords have told them is important to get right.

There are six new standards. They place greater emphasis on the relationship between landlords and their tenants at the local level. The standards put tenants at the heart of shaping, influencing and monitoring the services they receive.

The proposed new standards for social housing providers will be the main areas that landlords are regulated on and are expected to comply with. The standards describe the way that services should be delivered from landlords and how they will be scrutinised by themselves and their tenants.  Housing providers will have to set out the services they offer tenants which should include how their standards reflect the priorities of local communities.

To view the national standards and take part in the consultation go to

www.tenantservicesauthority.org or call 0845 2307000

The consultation is open until February 2010

Adam RonaldsonI am really pleased to write this latest introduction on the 'home page' of our website. I believe that at last we have a website to be proud of that fulfils the key aim of producing a website that really works for all users and adds value to any user of the website.

This has taken us a long time to bring to reality but now we have it up and running we will invest the resources to keep the website current and to add to the functionality.

To me the key element of the website and why we feel it stands out from the crowd is the sheer range of functions and options that exist for tenants and customers to benefit from using the website. The tenants' login and subsequent options does allow a tenant to conduct all their correspondence and management of the relationship themselves, from one resource – the website. I look forward to seeing the power of the website helping our customers long into the future.

We also provide a wide range of information on the website about our business, the services we provide and the recent developments and growth of Saffron Housing Trust. This information will be a great resource for people wishing to learn about us, what we do and our aspirations into the future.

Therefore I want to extend the warmest welcome to all viewers of our web site. Whether you are a resident of the area we serve, a tenant of one of our properties, a customer for one of our other services, or an interested observer of our business from outside the South Norfolk area we trust you will find information of use and value.

I also trust that in return you can suggest ways to improve and extend the value of the website to you.
